Visual Language project: The Forest (1)

My project for the Visual Language class (second semester) at Akto.

The subject was a personal landscape of sorts. In fact, the starting line was from the Little Red Riding Hood fairytale, roughly translating into "I walk in the forest when the wolf is not here" -- the wolf, in this case, standing for one's fear(s).
Something I should clarify is that we did not have to depict a landscape per se. Some of my classmates preferred to illustrate their fears, for instance, others toy with various concepts in video, installations.. It was that free to interpretation.
That I came to depict a forest (even though an flesh/blood-like one as this) had to do with the fact I attempted to break down the symbolism in that starting line and recombine it again. The forest, eventually, came to indicate an inner pursuit, an exploration of oneself; hence its organic appearance.

The full work consists of 12 such panels. They can be seen together here.
